What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Related technologies, such as browser localStorage, work in a similar way. They are widely used to make websites function and to provide information to site operators.

What runs by default, and what we ask you for

There are two different things on this page, and we treat them differently.

• Measurement- counting pages, clicks and the steps of our signup - starts when you arrive, without asking first. You can switch it off at any time using the button in our banner or the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer.
• Session recording- a reconstruction of how you used the pages - runs only if you press "Allow recording". It is off until you do.

If you decline, we switch off both, and stop any recording already in progress.

Essential vs. analytics cookies

Essential cookies are necessary for the site to work and to remember your cookie choice. These are always active and do not require consent.

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. These are active by default and stop as soon as you decline.

The analytics identifiers we store

We use PostHog to measure usage. PostHog stores identifiers so it can recognize a returning visitor and tie events together. Examples include:

• A ph_<project>_posthogvalue stored in your browser's localStorage.
• A distinct_id cookie used to identify your browser.

These identifiers are used for product analytics only, as described in our Privacy Policy.

If you are logged in to a Varenigo account, we also attach your account id and your email address to your analytics profile. This is so we can answer a question about your own order by looking at what you actually saw, rather than asking you to describe it. We do not send your name, phone number or delivery address to PostHog.

Session recording

Only if you press "Allow recording", PostHog records how you interact with the pages you visit: the pages you open, where you click and scroll, and the errors the site shows you. This is played back to us as a reconstruction of the page, not a video of your screen, and it lets us see where the site is confusing or broken rather than guessing from numbers alone.

What we deliberately keep out of those recordings:

• Everything you type into a form. Every input on the site is masked before the recording leaves your browser, so your name, phone number and address are never captured.
• Your card details. These are entered in a frame served by Stripe, our payment provider, which our recording cannot see into at all.
• The delivery details shown back to you on the review and account pages, which are masked in the same way.

Nothing is recorded before you press that button. Declining turns recording off entirely, as does clearing your stored choice, which puts the site back to measurement only.

How to change your choice

You can change your cookie choice at any time by:

• Using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of our site.
• Clearing cookies and localStorage in your browser settings, which resets your stored choice and any analytics identifiers.

Third parties

The only third party that sets cookies or stores identifiers through our site is PostHog, our analytics provider. Its measurement identifiers are set when you arrive and stop if you decline; its session recording runs only if you have allowed it.
